Tairawhiti iwi have called for the Rhythm & Vines music event which brings 30,000 revellers from all around the country to Gisborne for three days of music and raging. Chair of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou, Selwyn Parata says the collective comprising Ngati Porou, Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga a Mahaki and Ngai Tamanuhiri were concerned about the threat the event posed for our people and health system. Earlier this week, he released a Press Statement urging Ngati Porou whanau living outside the region especially those in towns with live community cases, to reconsider coming home over the Xmas holidays.
