We have just received the latest Heavy Rain Warning & Heavy Rain Watch from the MetService, which is as follows:
HEAVY RAIN WARNING: – For the Gisborne District North of Ruatoria from 8:00am to 12:00pm Monday, periods of heavy rain are expected until around midday before easing. Expect a further 30 to 50mm of rain to accumulate on top of what has already fallen, especially about the ranges. Peak intensities of 15 to 25mm per hour are possible.
HEAVY RAIN WATCH – For the Gisborne District South of Ruatoria, from 8:00am to 12:00pm Monday, periods of heavy rain are possible through to around midday before easing, MAINLY NORTH OF GISBORNE CITY. Rainfall accumulations could approach warning amounts.

The NZ Transport Agency website at 8:50am this morning (14 May 2018) is currently showing all the State Highways in and out of the District as open. The largest rainfall totals for the last 48hrs from 8:00am on Saturday morning to 8:00am this Monday morning have been recorded at:
Hicks Bay 134mm, Oweka 118mm, Rip 116mm, Te Araroa 114mm, Puketoro 86mm, East Cape 74mm, Arowhana 72mm and Matawai 71mm.

There have been no major issues in the District that we aware of
