A new cultural mapping project which will document waahi tapu and provide matauranga Maori was launched last week in Hicks Bay. The ‘Nga Tapuwae – In the Footsteps of our Tipuna’ project was launched by Te Whanau a Hunaara and Te Whanau a Tarahauiti. The project, funded by Heritage NZ with support from Nga Taonga o Hinerupe will use technology to identify and map sites, buildings and marae. We caught up with ‘Nga Tapuwae’ project Media and Communications manager Latasha Wanoa, about the opportunity of collecting more korero from our pakeke.
