East Coast COVID-19 Vaccinations dates and venues

Tena tatau

People living in townships on the East Coast will be vaccinated in their community. This work, which is being organised by Ngati Porou Hauora, has begun. COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered to the whole community in one go rather than rolling out vaccinations based on the national sequencing framework. This flexible approach makes sense to optimise the number of people vaccinated in these communities. It also reduces the risk of waste because of the complex logistics required for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

The vaccine is free and available to everyone 16 years and over.  You can also find questions and answers in this COVID-19 Vaccination Information Booklet, which is specific to Tairawhiti and has been approved by the Ministry of Health.

You can find more about how the vaccine works, its safety and development, advice if you’re pregnant and what to think about if you’re getting other vaccines around the same time.
