The Matariki Holiday Bill had it’s first reading yesterday in the House and our local Ikaroa Rawhiti MP Meka Whaitiri, is excited about what could be the ‘second Maori holiday’ in history.  The first, Waitangi Day, was declared a public holiday in 1974.
