Maori tamariki in the most deprived regions like Tairawhiti are twice as likely to die as non-Maori/Pacific kids.  Assistant Maori Children’s Commissioner Glenis Philip Barbara says the Mortality Report released this week makes sober reading and urgent action is needed to ensure barriers to wellbeing for our tamariki need to be removed.
