You may apply for a grant of up to $5,000
A bequest from the Gisborne writer and historian, Margaret Spencer, has enabled the establishment of a Trust, set up to further assist members of the public to acquire, develop
and improve their literary writing skills and to the extent that it is in the public interest to do so , the publication of the writers’ works.
Applicants must have a connection with the region either through birth or family, or because they are writing about the region. The sum of money available to a writer is not fixed and the selection committee is free to vary the award(s) made in any year according to the calibre of the applications…
The Trustees will not to provide support towards fixed assets such as computers etc
Your work should have reasonable literary merit and general appeal. Completion of the project is expected within two years. The writing can be in Maori or English. Writing for children is eligible.
