“Te reo ake o Ngati Porou permeates everything RNP produces.”

Our vision reminds us through the retention and promotion of our language, knowledge and practices Ngati Porou will remain strong.

RNP has grown over the years to provide the following services:

Radio Broadcasts

This is our core business. Radio offers opportunity to reach specific audiences quickly through specialised programmes. It can be enjoyed at work, at home and while driving and can accommodate breaking news or special announcements. It has the power to positively uplift, influence attitudes and change the social fabric of Ngati Porou.

Media Relations

RNP is well placed to provide local stories, news and current affairs programming for it’s own and external media networks and outlets.   Our goal is to manage and control all Ngati Porou material that is broadcast through radio, TV and social media. Our services extend to developing and distributing media releases; managing media enquiries and responses and media training.

Event Management

Organising events which engage and motivate our people at home and around the country and the world is another service we offer. Over the last five years we have run two radiothons which inspired our listeners to contribute $123,000, 2 cows, 10chickens, a garden shed and mural, for worthy causes. The success of these events is testament to the broad range of skills of the RNP team. We have a planned approach to all our projects and we ensure that every possible channel of communication is used to ensure the best reach for all our communication activities.

Outdoor Broadcasts

RNP has received national acclaim for the way we engage our people and being out and about and broadcasting live from different hui or events is part of that engagement. We broadcast everything from the local and Ngati Porou rugby games, to the Ngata Lectures and hui like the Ture Whenua Maori Act Review and tangihanga. We are able to radio broadcast and live video stream your hui – call 0800 864858 for more information.

Social Media

Social media networks have changed the way people communicate and share information. We have a popular and very active Facebook presence and a new website to be able to reach and engage our people instaneously. We aim to grow our listening and online audience and having every Naati connect to our daily broadcast. To this end we have invested in our capacity to simultaneously broadcast live from hui and channel highlights through our social media networks.

Learning Resources

We produce radio programmes from our archive for broadcast and for learning resources. In 2011 and 2012 we developed the Toku Reo Toku Ohooho Series 1 & 2 dvds on kiwaha and whakatauki and how to use them in context of a conversation. We have a library of Ngati Porou moteatea, songs and haka and all the Maori language programmes have educational value.

We provide a range of radio and online advertising and sponsorship packages which can be tailored to the needs of the client. We can assist you identify the key messages you wish to promote; select a suitable time slot and placement of ads that suits your budget; develop scripts and jingles and produce ads for sign off and distribution through our radio, online and social media networks. Sponsorship packages are sold primarily around our radio shows, special events or broadcasts.

We have an established track record in television production which includes; scoping and securing funding for the project; directing and reporting; securing a skilled production team; and post-production. We have produced 25 half hour programmes for Maori Television’s Nga Parikarangaranga series.
