Radio Ngati Porou grew out of social unrest in the late 1980’s and was formed to improve communication and ‘bring people together’.

Integral to that are the kaimahi of the station who over the years have kept things ticking over.  In it’s formative years, the station was manned voluntarily until receiving government funding in 1990.  The current team have a complement of skills and qualifications to drive the station in to the future.
